Hastings, Nebraska - After jumping out to a four run lead and watching it wiped away, The Fremont Moo went extra innings and defeated the Hastings Sodbusters, 5-4 in ten innings, Tuesday night at Duncan Field. 

After two scoreless innings to begin the game, Fremont got on the board in the top of the third. Against Hastings starter Markus Miller, Fremont's Dean Reynolds singled with one out. Two batters later, Jack Torosian singled to put runners on the corners. A stolen base put Torosian at second. Then, Carter Sintek hit a single to center, scoring both Reynolds and Torosian, to put Fremont ahead, 2-0.

Fremont extended the lead in the top of the third. With one out, Isaac Bonner tripled, then Moo newcomer Kayden Anderson singled, scoring Bonner, to make it a 3-0 Fremont lead.

The Moo offense produced another run in the top of the fifth. With one out Torosian tripled, then scored on a passed ball, to make it a 4-0 Moo lead.

The Sodbusters wiped out the Fremont lead in the bottom of the fifth. Versus Fremont starter Reece Kortum, Hastings' Nathan Masar reached on an error by Carter Sintek at shortstop. Drew Vega singled, then a wild pitch advanced runners to second and third. Taylor Gill drew a walk to load the bases. The next batter, Josh Prinner, reached on a fielder's choice, as Gill was forced out at second. On the play, Masar scored to make it 4-1. A wild pitch advanced Prinner to second. Then, Sawyer Duddleston hit a two rbi single, scoring Vega and Prinner, to make it a 4-3 game. Ryan Jarvis drew a walk, chasing Kortum from the game. Fremont brought in Parker Otte to pitch. The next batter, Bryce Ronkin hit an rbi single scoring Duddleston, to tie the game at 4-4. After Otte hit Alexiel Delgado with a pitch to load the bases, the next batter, Jared Delgado hit into a 5-2-3 ground out double play, to end the inning, keeping the game tied.

Neither team would score over the next four innings, thus pushing the game to the tenth. In the top of the inning, Carter Sintek was the placed runner at second. Two batters later, Bridger Coleman hit an rbi double off Hastings reliever Dino Morales, scoring Sintek, to put Fremont ahead, 5-4.

In the bottom of the tenth, Ryan Jarvis was the placed runner at second, for the Sodbusters. Fremont native Landon Mueller, making his season debut, got Bryce Ronkin to foul out to left for the first out. Then, Mueller got Alexiel Delgado to fly out to right for the second out, advancing Jarvis to third base. With the game tying run at third, Mueller got Jared Delgado to ground out to Carter Sintek at shortstop, for the final out of the game.

Fremont (26-15, 13-4) scored five runs off eleven hits and committed one error. Hastings (22-17, 8-10) had four runs off seven hits and one error.

Moo starter Reece Kortum pitched 4.1 innings, giving up three earned runs off four hits, struck out three and walked two with two wild pitches and hit one batter. Parker Otte pitched 2.2 innings, giving up three hits, walked two, had one wild pitch and hit one batter. Landon Mueller (1-0) picked up the win. He pitched 3.0 innings and retired all nine batters he faced, striking out two.

Hastings starter Markus Miller pitched 6.0 innings, giving up four runs off nine hits, struck out four and walked one. Michael Hanna pitched 2.2 innings, giving up one hit and walked one. Dino Morales (0-2) took the loss. He pitched 1.1 innings, giving up one unearned run, one hit and struck out one.

Offensively for Fremont, Jack Torosian was 3-for-5 with two triples. Carter Sintek was 1-for-5 and drove in two runs. Bridger Coleman was 1-for-5 with the go-ahead rbi double in the tenth. Moo newcomer Kayden Anderson was 1-for-5 with an rbi. Dean Reynolds was 2-for-4.

For Hastings, Josh Prinner was 0-for-4 and drove in one run. Sawyer Duddleston was 1-for-4 and drove in two. Bryce Ronkin went 2-for-5 with an rbi. Alexiel Delgado was 2-for-4.

Both teams will play game two of the three-game series Wednesday night. First pitch at Duncan Field will be 6:35 p.m. The game will be broadcast on Big Dog Country, 98.9 FM and 1340 AM, KHUB. More Information: Fremont played its third extra innings game of the season, and is now 1-and-2 in extras. The Moo picked up their second straight win, while Hastings dropped its second straight. For the second time this season, Fremont hit three triples in one game. 

The next home game for The Moo will be Friday, July 19th, when Fremont hosts The Nebraska Prospects at 7:05 p.m. at Historic Moller Field. That night will be C.H.A.D. night, recognizing the Combined Health Agencies Drive. Fremont will wear special uniforms that will be auctioned off, with funds going to the represented C.H.A.D. agencies.
