Fremont, Nebraska- On a hot Wednesday night, and three hours and forty one minutes of action, the Fremont Moo and Nebraska Prospects played a back and forth contest that ended in a 12-10 win for the visitors. The Nebraska Prospects won their tenth straight game and the Moo dropped their third in a row, their longest skid of the season.


Fremont got on the board in the bottom of the second. Connor Petersen led off and was hit by a pitch. Josh Blount drew a walk and Jayson Willers singled, to load the bases. Three batters later, Christian Hobbs delivered an RBI single to put Fremont up, 1-0.


The Prospects took their first lead in the top of the third, plating four runs. With one out, Sid deMayo and Kaden Young hit back-to-back singles. Jackson Trout drew a walk to load the bases, then, Britton Bond smacked a two-RBI double, off Moo starter Landon Mueller, to make it 2-1. Moo reliever Carson Jasa came in and uncorked a wild pitch, scoring Trout and a passed ball allowed Bond to score, making it 4-1.


The Moo got two runs back in the bottom of the third. Neil Jansen led off with a double, then stole third base. Two batters later, Connor Petersen hit a ground ball to shortstop, scoring Jansen, to make it 4-2. Then Josh Blount swung at a 2-2 pitch from starter Braden Curtis, and hit it over the right field fence, for his second home run of the year, making the score 4-3.


The Prospects put a two-out rally together in the fifth, scoring two runs. Britton Bond and Braden Cannon drew back-to-back walks. Then Tre' Mungin reached on a throwing error by Ben Swails at shortstop. Next, Danny Spongberg drew a bases loaded walk to make it 5-3, and a wild pitch from Jasa, scored Cannon, making it 6-3, the Prospects.


Fremont would tie the game in the bottom of the fifth, with a flair. Henry Hayman smacked a one-out double. Two batters later, Blount drew a walk. Then, Jayson Willers attacked an 0-1 pitch from reliever Joel Benes, and deposited it over the left-center field fence for his first home run of the year. The three run shot tied the game at 6-6.


The Moo took their first lead of the night, in the bottom of the sixth. Facing Prospects' reliever Jake Williams, Tyler Hummel drew a walk, stole second, and got to third on a balk. Two batters later, Ben Swails walked and stole second. After a Jansen strikeout, Hayman hit his second double of the night, scoring Hummel and Swails, to put Fremont up 8-6.


The Fremont lead was short-lived, however. Moo reliever Jagger Edwards entered the game and allowed the next five batters to reach. Jackson Trout walked and got to second on a wild pitch. Britton Bond doubled, scoring Trout, then advanced to third on a wild pitch. Cannon, Mungin and Spongberg all drew consecutive walks, the last of which scored Bond to make it 8-8. Fremont's Darius Blasingane entered the game and hit Easton Swafford with a pitch, scoring Cannon to make it 9-8. Three batters later, Young drew a bases loaded walk, scoring Mungin, putting the Prospects up 10-8.


Fremont got one run back in the bottom of the seventh. Against reliever Jackson Meier, Blount drew a lead off walk and Williams hit an RBI double, scoring Blount, to make it 10-9.


The Prospects capped their scoring in the top of the eighth. With one out, pinch-hitter Cole Kitchens reached on a throwing error by Henry Hayman at third. Then, Tre' Mungin smacked an RBI double, scoring Kitchens, to make it 11-9. Mungin advanced to third on a passed ball, then scored on a wild pitch, making it 12-9.


The Moo were held scoreless in the eighth, but made things interesting in the ninth. Against reliever Truit Luth, Petersen led off with a single. Two batters later, Willers singled to put runners at first and second. After a Trey Nichols strikeout, with two down, Tyler Hummel hit a ground ball to the hole at short, Easton Swafford's lone play was to throw to third for the force to end the game, but third baseman Cole Kitchens could not handle the throw, and the error scored Petersen, making it 12-10. With the game tying runs in scoring position, lead off batter Christian Hobbs came to the plate. However, Luth got Hobbs to ground out to second, for the final out of the game.


Prospects' starter Braden Curtis pitched 3.0 innings. He gave up four hits, two earned runs, walked two, struck out three and gave up the home run to Blount, plus hit one batter. Joel Benes pitched 2.0 innings, giving up three hits, three runs, one walk, struck out four and gave up the home run to Willers. Jake Williams (1-0) earned the win. He pitched 1.0 inning, giving up one hit, two runs, walked one and struck out one. Jackson Meier pitched 2.0 innings, giving up one hit, one run, walked one and struck out one. Truit Luth (1) earned the save. He pitched 1.0 inning, giving up two hits, one unearned run, and struck out one.


Fremont starter Landon Mueller lasted 2.1 innings. The Fremont native at Southeast Community College, gave up three hits, four runs, walked four, struck out two and hit one batter. Carson Jasa pitched 3.2 innings. The Arvada, Colorado native at the University of Nebraska gave up one hit, two unearned runs, walked four, struck out four and had one wild pitch. Jagger Edwards (0-1) took the loss. The San Antonio, Texas native at Columbia University faced five batters and gave up one hit, four runs, walked four and had two wild pitches. Darius Blasingane pitched 3.0 innings. The St. Petersburg, Florida native at Edward Waters University gave up two hits, two unearned runs, walked three and struck out four with one wild pitch and hit two batters.


Offensively, the Prospects' Kaden Young was 1-for-5 with an RBI. Britton Bond went 2-for-5 with three RBI's. Tre' Mungin was 1-for-5 with an RBI and Danny Spongberg had five plate appearances, walking all five times and earned two runs batted in.


Fremont's Christian Hobbs was 1-for-5. The Omaha native from Black Hawk Community College drove in one run. Henry Hayman was 2-for-5. The Melbourne, Australia native from Barton County Community College had two RBI's. Connor Petersen was 1-for-4. The Tucson, Arizona native at Midland University drove in one run. Josh Blount was 1-for-2. The DePere, Wisconsin native from Iowa Central Community College hit a solo home run. Jayson Willers went 4-for-5. The Davenport, Iowa native at Morningside University ended up a triple shy of the cycle, with four runs batted in.


More Information: The Nebraska Prospects won their tenth straight game and claimed their first ever series win over the Moo. Fremont dropped its third straight and suffered the series loss, both low water marks for the season.
