Palmer reached on an error, when Kitchens bobbled the ball on a back-handed attempt, at third base, scoring Contacos. After the runners advanced, Hummel rounded second too far, and Kitchens tagged him out for the second out. Hayman drew a walk, and that forced Prospects coach Tyler Varley to bring in Bradon Cannon, who was the closer at Wayne State College, this season. Cannon got Ben Swails to fly out to center to end the inning, with Fremont in front, 5-4.

In the top of the seventh, the Prospects would manufacture a run to tie the game, with two outs. Tyler Palmer delivered a one-out single. Colin Lynam reached on a fielder's choice, when Palmer was forced out at second. Then, Jackson Trout and Cole Kitchens delivered back-to-back singles, the latter of which scored Lynam, to tie the game at five, going into the seventh inning stretch.

Leadoff batter Easton Swafford delivered a two-rbi single to center, scoring Lynam and Bond, to make it, 7-5, the Prospects. Tyler Palmer kept the line moving, by hitting a sacrifice fly to center, scoring Spongberg to put the Prospects ahead, 8-5.

Fremont tried to mount a two-out rally in the eighth, when Clark and Palmer reached on singles, and Hayman was awarded first base on a catcher's Interference call, to load the bases. However, Cannon got Swails to strikeout swinging, to end the inning.

Sweet recovered in the ninth, for Fremont, retiring the Prospects in order, giving the Moo one last chance. In the bottom of the ninth, Long led off with a walk and Harrington delivered his third hit of the night with a single, to put runners at first and second.
