Pierre, South Dakota- For the second straight night the Fremont Moo gave up multiple runs in one inning that turned the complexion of a game and handed the Bovines a defeat, Monday night at Hyde Stadium, 


Fremont started the scoring in the top of the third. Jason Clark reached on a one-out walk. Then, Ben Swails hit an RBI triple to make it 1-0. Two batters later, Tyman Long delivered an RBI double to put Fremont up, 2-0.


The Zap found the scoreboard and took the lead in the bottom of the third. Tyler Traphagen led off with a double. Then, Trevor Seagraves hit a low, one-hopper to Tyler Harrington at third that bounced off his glove and into left field, scoring Traphagen, to make it 2-1. Seagraves stole second and Jackson Mix drew a walk. Then, Trentin Duchscherer hit an RBI double to make it 2-2. The next batter, Jacob Trusner hit a line drive at Moo first baseman Andrew Kirchener which bounced off his glove and ricocheted over to Tyler Hummel, who threw back to Kirchener to get the out, however, Mix scored, to make it 3-2, the Zap.


The Moo recaptured the lead in the top of the fourth. With one out, Henry Hayman singled and stole second. Kirchener drew a walk and Tyler Hummel hit a two-RBI double over the left fielder's head to make it 4-3, Fremont. Two batters later, Swails ripped his second rbi triple of the night, to put the Moo up 5-3.


Fremont extended the lead in the top of the fifth. Long led off with a double and Harrington followed with a single to put runners at the corners. Jayson Willers hit a sacrifice fly to center, scoring Long, to make it 6-3 Fremont, at the game's half-way point.


The Moo added another run in the top of the sixth. With one out, Clark singled and got to second on a wild pitch. Swails hit a shallow pop up to right that dropped, however Clark had to hold at second base. Clark then stole third and on the next pitch, Swails stole second. Neil Jansen hit a sacrifice fly to right, scoring Clark to make it 7-4, Fremont.


In the seventh, the Moo's fortune turned South. Brandon Lundquist came on to pitch after starter Kai Taylor worked six innings. However, Lundquist's outing was a rough one.  He faced ten batters and gave up a pair of singles, walked four, had four wild pitches and hit three batters, giving up eight runs. Evan Kleinhans came on and gave up an RBI single to Trusner, walked Andrew Beavers and hit Preston Lau with the bases loaded. After the dust cleared, Oahe sent fourteen batters to the plate and scored eight runs to take a 12-7 lead, which turned out to be the game's final tally.


In the ninth, Zap reliever Micah Larsen struck out Tyman long swinging, got Harrington to pop up to Heck at third, and fanned Willers on a 1-2 pitch, swinging, to end the game.


Oahe starter Graham Young pitched 6.0 innings, giving up ten hits, seven runs, walked two and struck out seven, with one wild pitch. Daniel Clark (1-2) earned the win. He pitched 1.0 inning and walked one. Collin Quandee pitched 1.0 inning, walked one and hit one batter and Micah Larsen pitched 1.0 inning, striking out two.


Fremont starter Kai Taylor pitched 6.0 innings. The Phoenix, Arizona native at Augustana University gave up six hits, one earned run, walked four, struck out five and had one wild pitch. Brandon Lundquist (1-1) took the loss. The Omaha native from the University of Nebraska pitched 0.2 innings, giving up two hits, eight runs, walked four, had four wild pitches and hit three batters. Evan Kleinhans pitched 1.1 innings. The Berkeley, California native at Columbia University gave up two hits, walked three and hit one batter.


Offensively, Oahe's Trevor Seagraves was 2-for-4. Jackson Mix was 1-for-4 with two RBI's. Trentin Duchscherer was 2-for-5 with an RBI. Jacob Trusner was 1-for-4 with a run batted in. Andrew Beavers was 2-for-3. Preston Lau was 1-for-4 with an RBI and Tyler Traphagen was 1-for-2 with a run batted in.


Fremont's Ben Swails was 3-for-5. The Tiffin, Iowa native at the University of Iowa hit a pair of RBI triples. Neil Jansen went 0-for-5. The Cypress, California native at San Jose State had an RBI sacrifice fly. Tyman Long was 2-for-5. The Sioux Falls, South Dakota native at College of Southern Nevada had two doubles and a run batted in. Henry Hayman was 2-for-4. The Melbourne, Australia native from Barton County Community College had two singles. Tyler Hummel went 1-for-3. The Nolensville, Tennessee native at Colorado School of Mines, hit a two-RBI double.


More Information: Oahe defeated Fremont for the third straight time. Fremont leads the season series over the Zap, 4-3. With Ben Swails two triples, he has three on the season which ties him for third on the Moo All-Time single season list. Swails also stole his 30th base of the year, also tying him for third on the All-Time single season stolen base chart. 


Up Next: Fremont (22-14, 5-7) will play Oahe (11-29, 6-7) in game two of the three-game series, Tuesday night. First pitch at Hyde Stadium is 6:35pm. 


The Moo's next home game is Thursday, July 13th, when Fremont opens a regular season-ending ten-game homestand against the Nebraska Prospects. Thursday night will be G.A. Night.
